Succession Planning Tactics: Identifying, Selecting and Developing High-Potential Leaders
This fall, over 80 executives from our member districts participated in the DMC’s Executive Action Planning Meetings (EAPM) in Boston and Houston. Our discussion at this year’s meeting was focused on a topic of increasing importance across the country: Leadership Succession Planning. DMC’s one-day program on Succession Planning presented a comprehensive process for addressing senior leadership preparation, placement, and transition. As with all of our EAPMs, this meeting presented a set of strategic and tactical ideas and recommendations to participating superintendents and cabinet staff, and generated a wealth of lively conversation and debate.
