What we do

Our clients define our success. Our goals are based on the results we produce for our district partners.

dmc-circlesOur Focus

The District Management Council (DMC) was founded in 2004 to help address the most pressing and important management challenges facing American educators. DMC partners with public school district leaders to improve student outcomes, operational efficiency, and resource allocation.

We believe leadership and management matters. By helping to strengthen and increase the managerial capacity of the people leading school districts, we believe that we can help to systemically improve the performance of American public education system.

How we do it

We believe...

  • in having a superintendent’s point of view. By clearly aligning our work with the perspectives of the senior leadership team, we can align our objectives with the district’s.
  • in systems thinking. School districts are complex organizations addressing complicated challenges in order to achieve important outcomes. We believe that true solutions require many initiatives to work together in order to achieve coherence and alignment.
  • that we know more together than alone. By collaborating with a nationwide network of school districts and distilling best practice research, we believe we can deliver superior insights and better solutions.
  • in getting results. Our work does not end with a report. We pride ourselves in helping to produce tangible outcomes that are important to the district. Along the way, we seek to strengthen district capacity. Ultimately, the measure of our success is client satisfaction and real results.
